Great Seal of Michigan

Adopted in on June 2, 1835

ミシガン州の国章は、ミシガン州の第2代（非実行）準州知事のルイス・キャスによってデザインされました。 この印章は、ハドソンベイ毛皮会社の印章を模したものであった。 1835年の憲法制定会議に提出され、1835年6月2日にミシガン州の公式な国璽として採用された。

Michigan Great Seal

The Great Seal of the State of Michiganは、水色のフィールドに米国ミシガン州の紋章が描かれている。 紺色の盾の上には湖と半島に昇る太陽、手を挙げて長い銃を持つ男は平和と自分の権利を守る力を表しています。 ヘラジカとヘラジカはミシガン州のシンボル、白頭ワシはアメリカ合衆国を表しています。

デザインには3つのラテン語のモットーが描かれています。 上から順に、

1. 赤いリボンの上。 E Pluribus Unum（「多数から一つを」、米国の標語）
2. 水色の盾の上：E Pluribus Unum（「多数から一つを」、米国の標語）。 白のリボン：Tuebor「私は守る」（ただし、学者によっては「観察」や「検討」を好む人もいる）
3. 白のリボン：E Pluribus Unum「多数から一つへ」。 300>
4. 白いリボンに：Si Quæris Peninsulam Amœnam Circumspice「もし楽しい半島を求めるなら、あなたの周りを見なさい」これは州の公式モットーである。 1835年に採択されたこの標語は、ロンドンのセント・ポール大聖堂にある建築家クリストファー・レンへの賛辞、すなわちSi monumentum requiris, circumspice（ラテン語で「記念碑を求めるなら、周りを見よ」）に示唆されたと言われています。

Michigan State Coat of Arms

腕章は、ミシガン州旗で示されているのでお馴染みです。 これが最初に発生したのは1837年です。 それ以来、さまざまなデザインや紋章の入った州旗が使われました。
しかし、公式のミシガン州旗が採用されたのは、1865年のことでした。 この旗のデザインは、副将軍ジョン・ロバートソンが推奨し、クラポ知事が承認したもので、片面には青地に州の紋章が描かれていた。
ミシガン州の州旗は、1865年7月4日、ゲティスバーグの兵士の国立墓地の記念碑に礎石を置く際に初めて広げられた。
1911年の法律209号により、ミシガン州の州旗は「州旗は州の紋章をあしらった青でなければならない」という単純なフレーズで採択されている。 (MCL 2.23) 旗はミシガン州管理予算局（517/322-5088）に連絡して購入できる。
ミシガン州の現在の紋章は、1911年に立法府によって採択されたものである。 (MCL 2.21) これはミシガンの国璽と同じもので、「The Great Seal of the State of Michigan, A.D. MDCCCXXXV」という伝説や円は省略されている。
国璽とは異なり、紋章は文書、文具、装飾品にデザインまたは文字を入れず、あらゆる広告と切り離して印刷することが可能である。 (MCL 750.247）ただし、Coat of Armsを不適切に展示、表示した者は、軽犯罪に問われる。 (MCL 750.245

国璽は時々変更されている。 しかし、現在の国章は1911年以来変更されていない。 国璽の複製物または複写物は、国の公的機能と関係のない方法で使用することはできない。 (7655>
